MEXT Scholarship 2027 in Japan (Fully Funded – Japanese Government Scholarship)​

The Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) offers a prestigious fully funded scholarship for international students to pursue Master’s and PhD (Research Students) programs at top Japanese universities.


🔆 Benefits
✅ Monthly stipend:

  • 143,000 yen (research/non-regular students)

  • 144,000 yen (master’s students)

  • 145,000 yen (doctoral students)

✅ Additional regional allowance: 2,000–3,000 yen/month

✅ Full tuition fee waiver (admission, enrollment & tuition)

✅ Round-trip airfare covered

✅ Access to advanced research facilities

✅ Opportunity to learn Japanese language & culture


🔆 Eligibility Criteria
✅ Must be a citizen of a country with diplomatic relations with Japan

✅ Age requirement: Born on or after April 2, 1992

✅ Academic requirements:

  • For Master’s: Bachelor’s degree (16 years education)

  • For PhD: Master’s degree or equivalent

✅ Must apply in a relevant field of previous study

✅ Willingness to learn Japanese and adapt to life in Japan

✅ Must submit a medical certificate


🔆 Ineligible Applicants
✅ Military personnel or those unable to travel within the required period

✅ Previous MEXT scholarship holders

✅ Applicants already studying in Japan with a student visa

✅ Applicants applying for multiple MEXT programs simultaneously


🔆 How to apply
✅ Visit the official Japanese Embassy website in your country

✅ Download and complete application forms

✅ Submit documents to the Japanese Embassy/Consulate

✅ Pass first screening (documents + tests + interview)

✅ Contact up to 2 Japanese universities for acceptance letters

✅ Submit Placement Preference Form

✅ Final selection by MEXT (Japan)
